Essential oils are on everyone’s radar right now. And if you’ve done a lot of research around snoring solutions, you’ve probably seen essential oils pop up as a way to help with snoring. Popular essential oil brands like Young Living Oils and doTerra definitely claim to help with this issue, but do they actually work?

    What are essential oils?

Essential oils are natural and concentrated compounds extracted from plant’s leaves, flowers, roots, seeds, stems, wood, fruit, or bark. With the varying types of oils, they all contain different properties that can help with a variety of concerns. People use essential oils to help manage stress, increase energy levels, improve skin care, and in some cases, prevent snoring.

Essential oils are natural, relatively inexpensive, and quite easy to use. Most people who use essential oils opt for diffusers, use them in spray bottles or some even use it topically. You can get pretty creative with how you want to incorporate oils into your day and night routine. The most popular way to use essential oils for snoring is to turn on a diffuser with a couple of drops of specific essential oils before heading to bed. An added benefit to essential oils is they typically smell amazing!

Which essential oils should I be using for snoring?

There are a variety of essential oils that can be used to help with a snoring problem. Among those are thyme, eucalyptus, peppermint, marjoram, lavender, lemon, sage, and pine.

Thyme helps supports the respiratory, immune, and nervous systems, which can lead to improved breathing throughout the night and better sleep.

Eucalyptus and peppermint are popular during cold and flu seasons as they are natural decongestants. Eucalyptus and peppermint can help open your airways and nasal passages, which ultimately leads to breathing easily.

Another noteworthy essential oil for snoring is marjoram, which acts similarly to eucalyptus in that it opens your airways and improves breathing. Marjoram also relieves congestion, asthma, and bronchitis.

Other considerations when it comes to using essential oils for snoring

Although Young Living and doTerra essential oils do have health benefits that can alleviate allergy-induced snoring, habitual snorers may need to consider a snoring mouthpiece like Good Morning Snore Solution.

At the end of the day, essential oils can have a calming effect on your mind, body, and sinuses. It’s important to note that many people who use this method also agree that the inclusion of another snoring device enables them to sleep more quietly and peacefully. Using a combination of oils and an anti-snoring device like the Good Morning Snore Solution might be a great way to solve snoring!
