What is the advantage of Tongue Stabilization over Jaw Displacement?

When it comes to affordable stop snoring devices, people get two options: the MAD (or mandibular advancement device) and the TSD (or tongue stabilizing device). Although these two options are both mouthpieces, they function quite differently. The MAD is worn like a denture and stops snoring by jutting the lower jaw forward to expand the air passage. How do I care for the mouthpiece?

Harsh cleaners or excessively hot water should be avoided as it could damage the mouthpiece. There’s also no reason to heat, cut or trim your mouthpiece, as this could make it unsafe for use and compromise its effectiveness.

What is a Certified Cleaning Solution? How do I clean the mouthpiece?

A certified cleaning solution includes anything approved for cleaning dentures, retainers or sports mouth guards. These products can be purchased at your local pharmacy, grocery store, and at most convenience stores. As an alternative, you can also use a mixture of toothpaste and cold water. With most cleaning products, the device should soak for at least ten minutes. Always use cold water. After soaking, rinse with cold water and allow the mouthpiece to air dry before use. Once dry, your Good Morning Snore Solution mouthpiece is clean and ready for your next sleep.

Please note: the Efferdent PowerClean Crystals sample (included with new mouthpieces) contains persulfates, which are a known allergen, and may cause allergic reactions. Symptoms of allergic reaction include irritation, tissue damage, gum tenderness, rash, urticaria, respiratory conditions and hypotension. It is recommended that users who have allergies to persulfates or users who experience any of these symptoms during normal use of the device consider appropriate alternatives to cleaning products that contain persulfates.

How long will the mouthpiece last?

On average, the lifespan of the Good Morning Snore Solution mouthpiece is one year. This lifespan may vary, and depends on personal use and care for the device. You may wish to replace it earlier if you see signs of wear and tear or if you notice its effectiveness has diminished over time.

Can I wear the appliance with dentures?

Yes. The Good Morning Snore Solution was developed to accommodate users with varying degrees of dentation. As the flange fits between your lips and gums, you can wear the mouthpiece with or without dentures.

Do I have to breathe through my nose when using this product?

Yes, users should primarily breathe through their nose when using the Good Morning Snore Solution mouthpiece. The mouthpiece may cause obstruction of oral breathing and is not recommended for people with chronic nasal congestion, blockage or sinusitis, or severe respiratory disorders.

Do all clients experience the same suction from the Good Morning Snore Solution Mouthpiece bulb?

Every person is different, so the mouthpiece can have some variation for each user. Some may find that the device suctions too strongly and makes their tongue sore at first, while others might feel the device does not have enough suction to keep their tongue in the proper position all night.

If suction seems too high, most will find adding a bit more air to the bulb during placement of the tongue to be more comfortable. If suction seems too low, we suggest adding a small dab of olive oil in the bulb to create a better seal. With a bit of adjustments, and time for the body to become used to the mouthpiece, most users reach what we call the “Goldilocks Zone” where everything is just right, and the Good Morning Snore Solution is both effective and comfortable enough for use all night, every night.

I have sensitive gums and teeth. Is this device right for me?

As your health and comfort is always our top concern, individuals with sensitive gums and teeth, chronic swollen or sore gums from gingivitis, or underlying medical or dental conditions that may make their gums and teeth more sensitive to contact should consult with a physician and/or dentist before ordering the Good Morning Snore Solution mouthpiece.

Can I use this device with a night guard?

Yes. Some users find the Good Morning Snore Solution mouthpiece can be used instead of a night guard, as it can have the same effect of preventing their teeth from making direct contact during sleep. Due to the variances in personal physiology and individual conditions, it is always recommended that Good Morning Snore Solution users consult with their family doctor, dentist or orthodontist before use.

Use of this product may cause tooth movement or changes in dental occlusion, gingival or dental soreness, or soreness of the temporomandibular joint. Unfortunately, individuals with advanced periodontal disease are not recommended for use of this product.

Can I use this product in place of my CPAP machine?

Clinical studies support the use of the Good Morning Snore Solution mouthpiece for treatment of mild to moderate sleep apnea. While a number of our clients use this device instead of their CPAP machine, or as a temporary substitute on vacations and trips, every person is different. Because CPAP users may have more severe conditions than most, we recommend consultation with a trusted medical professional before use.

Is this device recognized for treatment of sleep apnea?

Yes. Good Morning Snore Solution is available over the counter for the treatment of mild to moderate sleep apnea and snoring. It is registered with Health Canada, the European Commission, and the ARTG as a class I medical device. In addition, it is registered with the FDA as a class II medical device and it is available by prescription for the treatment of snoring in the United States. Please note: in the U.S., the device is contraindicated for use in patients who have central or obstructive sleep apnea.
