Especially CBD strains as its properties are known to help your mind and body relax. Although CBD is not everyone’s cup of tea, is it worth considering if you struggle getting a good night’s sleep?

What is CBD?

Cannabidiol, otherwise known as CBD is a chemical compound found in cannabis flowers. It’s one of the most well-known components of marijuana and contains therapeutic and relaxing properties that are typically associated with cannabis.

CBD is closely related to THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) - the compound that produces the “high” cannabis is famous for. These two compounds are the most studied out of the hundreds of compounds that exist in cannabis flowers. While THC offers psychoactive effects, CBD simply offers calming, anti-anxiety, and anti-psychoactive effects. For those looking for a natural method to fix their sleep worries, CBD can be a great alternative to try.

CBD and sleep

If you’re having trouble getting to sleep, know that CBD studies are showing that it can be a vital tool to sleep better throughout the night. In a 2018 study conducted by the Frontiers of Pharmacology, they found that CBD can help with insomnia, chronic pain and discomfort during sleep. Other studies have shown that CBD can help with the following sleep-related issues:

  • Reduces anxiety for better sleep quality
  • Increases sleep amounts
  • Helps with insomnia
  • Aids in chronic pain and discomfort
  • Stimulates alertness and deuces daytime sleepiness (in smaller doses)
  • Improves sleep quality in people with Parkinson’s disease and PTSD

Ways to consume CBD for sleep problems

Many companies are coming out with innovative products and methods to naturally help you get better sleep with CBD. The most popular are CBD oils in which you can take oral drops. There are also edibles, vaporizes, and topicals - just to name a few. One of the great things about CBD is the variety of methods you can consume this product. There’s no need to even taste it for some options!

Does it help with snoring?

A limited amount of scientific research exists for this topic. However, research shows that CBD affects our endocannabinoid system, which plays an important role in sleep, mood, appetite, and regulating circadian rhythms.

While CBD mostly binds to the endocannabinoid area, CBD can potentially be effective for sleep apnea sufferers, as many people with sleep apnea have a higher chance of going through general anxiety, stress.

In terms of CBD and snoring, there’s not sufficient research that proves a direct link between the two. Although the science behind CBD and its effects on sleep and snoring is still in its infancy, there’s a promising future in this natural remedy. If you want to find news ways to relax and wind down, you might want to consider exploring all the CBD options out there!
