Romeo and Juliet. Peanut butter and Jelly. Cookies and milk. There are some combinations wherein you can't think of one without thinking of the other. You can add obesity and lack of exercise to that list.

Obesity and lack of exercise often go hand in hand, although not in a positive light. Both are closely associated to a host of adverse health conditions which affect not only individuals but also their communities.

The easy availability of fast food, in conjunction with a sedentary lifestyle, has caused health experts around the globe (especially in more advanced economies) to sound the alarm against the ill effects of both including diabetes, cancer and heart disease. From a psychological perspective, both can cause psychological trauma and emotional stress.

To a great degree, snoring can also be attributed to being overweight due to improper diet and lack of exercise. And if you are looking for a snore solution, one of the first things that you may need to look into and tweak are your diet and your level of physical activity. But how do both cause snoring for men and women?

When fat accumulates in a woman's body, you'll typically find this deposited in the thighs, hips and buttocks. Men, on the other hand, have a tendency to store fat around the neck and waist. This is one of the main reasons why men have a higher tendency to snore as compared to the fairer sex, although women lose muscle tone during the onset of menopause and also become more vulnerable to the problem.

Excess fat deposited around the neck can lead to snoring because fatty tissue can constrict the free flow of air along the passageways. Compounding this issue is the fact that the muscles in the area relaxes during sleep.

Of course, whether or not you have a snoring problem, it is important to eat sensibly and exercise for at least 20 minutes, three times per week to improve your health and stave off lifestyle diseases. However, the need for a good diet and exercise becomes doubly important if you are dealing with a snoring problem. Do note that putting on even just a few pounds of excess weight can increase your chances of developing a snoring problem significantly.

Losing and keeping off excess weight can be a long journey that requires discipline and determination. If you are still dealing with your snoring problem after losing a few pounds, consider using an anti-snore device that will help remedy your snoring in a fast, convenient and safe way.
